# Configuring the Hi, I'm Kai widget

This page explains the appearance, messaging, feature, and preview settings that control how the Hi, I'm Kai widget appears to visitors.

## What can I customize?

Customize how the widget looks and behaves from the Widget page. Changes save automatically after a short debounce and sync to the content delivery network.

The widget configuration is separate from the knowledge base. Appearance changes affect the user interface, while knowledge base changes affect the answers.

## Which appearance settings are available?

The appearance table has two columns: the setting name and the visual behavior controlled by the setting.

| Setting | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Theme color | Accent color for the chat bubble and header. Use a hex value or CSS color. |
| Position | Bottom-right or bottom-left placement of the floating button. |

Use appearance settings to make the widget feel native to your website while keeping the conversation interface easy to find.

## Which messaging settings are available?

The messaging table has two columns: the setting name and the visitor-facing copy controlled by that setting.

| Setting | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Welcome message | Greeting shown when the chat panel opens for the first time. |
| Input placeholder | Hint text in the message input field. |

Write messaging in the same voice as your website. Clear placeholder text helps visitors understand what they can ask.

## Which feature toggles are available?

The feature table has two columns: the toggle name and the effect of enabling that toggle.

| Toggle | Effect |
| --- | --- |
| Voice enabled | Allows visitors to speak questions aloud with a microphone. |
| Hide branding | Removes the "Powered by Hi, I'm Kai" footer from the widget. |

Feature toggles let you match the widget to your plan, brand, and visitor experience.

## How do I preview the widget?

Click **Preview** to open a live iframe showing the widget exactly as visitors will see it. The preview uses the same iframe URL as production.

Use the preview before copying the install snippet so you can confirm visual settings, messaging, and enabled features.
